Honored by Students

Members of  the All-Africa Students Union (AASU) chose to give the award to Kenyatta due to his efficient leadership style. The AASU is based in Accra, Ghana and is comprised of thousands of students from across the continent. At Senate House in Nairobi, a few of the members from 12 local colleges formally presented the president with the award.

An Important Conversation

The students were accompanied by their East African representative, Mr. Lone Felix of Kenyatta University. The student leaders requested the Head of State for more funding from the Higher Education Loans Board. They all discussed the necessity for a better connection between the students and the government, instead of resorting to violent protests. The president agreed with them and advised “You should engage the ministry (of Education) in a more constructive manner without going to the streets and throwing stones.” He also encouraged all of the students to keep their dreams alive since they live in a country bound to become prosperous with its abundant resources.
