Michel Dussuyer, Ivory Coast’s football coach, recently published the list of players that are going to face Sierra Leone on September 6th. To everyone’s surprise, one name was missing: Yaya Touré. Ivory Coast’s former captain is not injured, nor is he sick, he simply asked his coach not be included in the squad.

A Period Of Reflection

Dussuyer told the press that Touré was thinking about his international future.

“At the moment he’s in a period of reflection about his international future,” the coach said.”I met him in London and told him I was counting on him […] He’s a big player and the captain of the team. I hope he’ll continue his adventure with us.”

The game will take place, Lagos, Nigeria because the Sierra Leonian team is banned from hosting games at home due to the Ebola crisis. The other players who do not figure on Dussuyer’s list are Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote, Siaka Tiene, Wilfried Bony and Lacina Traore.

He scored a total of 19 goals for his country. He won the African Footballer of the Year award in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
