Nigeria and Mali will head to Viña Del Mar, Chile, on Sunday, November 8th to participate in the Fifa Under-17 World Cup final after respectively beating Mexico and Belgium in the semi-finals. Mexico will play against Belgium for the third place.

Another final for Nigeria

Nigeria reached their eight Fifa Under-17 World Cup final thanks to a thrilling 4-2 victory against Mexico in Concepción on Thursday. The Golden Eaglets survived against a tough Mexican team at the Estadio Municipal Ester Roa. Mexico controlled the pace from the beginning and took an early lead. The Mexicans opened the score at the 7th minute when Kevin Magana capitalized on a teasing cross from Kevin Lara.

The Nigerians managed to equalize thanks to a superb free-kick by Nwakali from around 25 yards. The Mexican goalkeeper stood no chance. Okwonkwo scored a second goal right before half-time. After the break, Mexico got back into the rhythm. At the 58th minute, Cortes scored a magnificent equalizer. Nine minutes later, Ebere netted a third goal for Nigeria and Osimhen sealed the deal at the 83rd minute in a penalty kick.

Mali brushes Belgium aside

The continental champions reached their first ever Fifa Under-17 World Cup final after beating Belgium 3 goals to 1. Belgium opened the score at the 16th minute thanks to Dante Rigo. Boubacar Traore’s equalizer 6 minutes later was followed by two second half goals from Sidiki Maiga and Sekou Koita, the youngest player on the field.
