This is Suzelle, a rising South African star from the increasingly viral YouTube channel Suzelle DIY. Her character is played by the talented Julia Anastasopoulos, an artist, illustrator and designer, who now turned actress. Her YouTube videos create parodies of the popular self-help videos you find on YouTube.

Julia Anastasopoulos started her career as an illustrator for children’s books

She studied Theatre and Performance at the University of Cape Town before being drawn to design, which motivated her to start her own design and illustration studio in Cape Town.

In 2014, things changed for Julia in a big, BIG way

She started the Suzelle DIY YouTube channel, which currently has 24 videos, and surpassed 34 000 subscribers and over 4 million views.

Suzelle is an at home fix it yourself queen

She teaches South Africa and the rest of the world how to fix, or simplify everyday tasks such as peeling apples, fixing plugs and how to win your beloved’s heart.

All of her videos feature some DIY tips and tricks, but with a big twist!

Her first video was posted on May 7th 2014 and has since garnered over 111 000 views. The most viral, most shared and most hilarious video though is her funny instructional cooking video “How to make a braai-pie”, which has been viewed nearly 500 000 times. In the video, Suzelle shows us how to use leftover braai meat when things go a little awry.

Her YouTube success has taken off

Suzelle has featured in a television commercial, been interviewed by dozens of news and media outlets, and has now started shooting on her very own coffee table. Something every household needs for sure!
