Chelsea’s owner, Roman Abramovich, sounds interested in bringing Didier Drogba back to London. As, the Blues are restructuring their management team days after Mourinho’s firing, many are speculating that the Ivorian legend will be back.

Back to the Bridge?

According to several reports, Abramovic, who still speaks to Drogba on a regular basis, wants the Montreal Impact striker to hand his cleats and join the Chelsea organization’s coaching staff. The club’s new manager, Guus Hiddink, is building a team, and many believe that Drogba could have a spot as an assistant manager. Hiddink openly told a Dutch newspaper:

“I want Didier Drogba on my staff. It’s important to have these club icons working for you. The only problem is that he has a contract in Montreal.”

Many Chelsea fans would love to see Didier Drogba back in the organization. His presence would calm the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge as many fans are unhappy with the firing of Jose Mourinho. The Ivorian player did state his desire to manage the club one day.

The end of an era?

Drogba is under contract with the Montreal Impact until December 2016. He’s had a great start in the MLS. He’s had tons of playing time and scored many goals. When asked about Drogba’s current situation in the MLS, Hiddink said:

“We would like to get him involved. But he still has a contract with Montreal in the MLS, even though it is the close season for them now.But we definitely intend to get him involved. We want to get important players involved with the club they care about. Drogba’s heart is with Chelsea.”

Joining Chelsea’s management team now would imply that the 37-year-old hangs his boots. Drogba won four Premier League titles in nine seasons with Chelsea as well as four FA Cups, three League Cups and the Champions League.
