Unless you live under a rock, you should have heard that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were expecting a second baby to join their family. After what felt like years of waiting, the baby finally arrived on May 2nd 2015, with one proud announcement: it’s a girl!
The little lady’s name was officially announced: Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge.
The newest addition to the family had a long list of speculated names which included several old family favorites such as Alice, Victoria and Margaret.

The names were chosen with specific family members in mind.
Charlotte for the duke of Cambridge’s father, Charles. Elizabeth to honor his grandmother and the current monarch. And finally, Diana in remembrance of Prince William’s mother. The baby has already been presented to the Queen, and, of course, to her older brother George.
Princess Charlotte was born weighing in at nearly 4 kg (8.8 lb) and both the baby and mother are perfectly healthy.
An official statement bearing the royal seal was placed outside Buckingham Palace, drawing tons of spectators to see the declaration. The young princess is officially fourth in line to the throne behind her grandfather, her father and her older brother.
Even if she doesn’t succeed to the throne, she’s already the queen of social media and news outlets! What a splash!
