Superstar athlete Serena Williams is the cover model for New York Magazine’s fashion issue. She shows off her incredible athleticism and muscles while holding a split and balancing on bars. She also talks about her upcoming plans outside of the tennis court.
A Big Tournament Coming Up
Williams is one of the greatest athletes of all time, she recently won her sixth Wimbledon championship. She is not ready to retire just yet, especially since the U.S. open is coming up soon. “I have to go into New York thinking, ‘Listen, I want to win the U.S. Open. I want to defend my title,’ ” she told the magazine. “Hopefully, people will be cheering me on to, like, push me over the edge, give me that extra strength I need to go for this historic moment.”

Thinking About The Future
Even though her tennis career is not slowing down anytime soon, she is beginning to think about her life plans after she is done playing tennis. Most of her plans involve her career in fashion design. Though she initially wanted to design wedding dresses, she decided to do an athletic wear line. Williams is well-known for her fashion on the court.
Focused And Determined
Williams also discussed more serious issues in the interview, such as racism and double standards for female athletes. “I don’t think about it,” she says. “I don’t dwell in the past. If I do, I’ll be swallowed up by negativity. As Mandela once said, ‘I will be in a mental prison.’ ”
