It has been a great week for Vincent Enyeama. After his impressive season with French club Lille OSC, the former Super Eagles goalkeeper proves that he’s still got it.

Among the best

Earlier this week Enyeama’s name figured among Europe’s best goalkeepers. The 33-year-old Nigerian footballer was named in the top 10 list of goalies in Europe for the 2015-2016 season published by the Swiss-based CIES Football Observatory. The former Super Eagles captain earned the impressive 6th position behind Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich, Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid, Gianluigi Buffon of Juventus, Kevin Trapp of PSG and Claudio Bravo of Barcelona. He is the only African goalkeeper to figure on the list.

A close-to-perfect season

Enyeama kept 14 clean sheets for Lille this season. This stellar performance earned him a nomination for the best goalkeeper award in the French Ligue 1 by the Professional Union of French Players (UNFP). This is his second nomination in three years. He will be competing with Lyon’s Anthony Lopes, Saint-Etienne’s Stephane Ruffier, and Marseille’s Steve Mandanda, who won last year’s award. When he received the nomination, Enyeama shared a picture on his Instagram account, thanking God, his close ones, and the Lille OSC organization.
