Afrobeat singer Davido, who is often criticized for showing his possessions on social media, was allegedly robbed last Saturday near a shopping mall in South Africa.
Two watches and a lot of cash
Davido, his manager, Kamal Ajiboye and Mcomm Solution’s CEO, Chidi Okeke, were on their way to their hotel when two armed robbers attacked them. They allegedly stole two Rolex watches, $185,000 in cash and a passport.
“We had just arrived in SA yesterday evening, so we stopped for traffic light, next thing, they crossed us and two of them came out with guns and they used their guns to smash our glass […] The robbery happened at Greyston Shopping center, Moloko Hotel Junction. They took my bag pack, I had $45,000 David had $60,000. We were also with the CEO of Mcomm Solution Chidi Okeke who also had $80,000 on him. They took his passport, his Rolex, my Rolex sky dweller. You know, we travel all the time with different currencies, so taking our bags is the least we expected […] I’m in pain, I’m still shocked, they hit my leg with the guns, we just thank God for our lives that we are all ok for now,” Ajiboye revealed to the press.

Safe and sound
Davido, who is very active on social media, shared his frustration on Twitter. Contrary to what Ajiboye has reported, the musician claims to have lost $55,000. He added that he was grateful to be alive and that he still had “love for South Africa”. We are glad that they are all fine. After all, you know that Davido is going right back to the Rolex store to get a new watch.
