Bharti Airtel Africa is a leading telecommunications operator present in 17 African countries. The company announced the launch of the Airtel Artist Management System (AMS). AMS is a new platform that will allow upcoming musicians to spread their content all over the continent. It will become available during the first week of December.

Supporting African musicians

The new platform will support local artists and help the music industry across Africa grow. Up and coming artists will be able to directly upload their music to the portal. Once they do, the music will be available to Airtel Africa’s far reaching audience, which is potentially 83 million subscribers. AMS allows musicians to upload unique audio, video, wallpapers, or animations. The artist’s personalized content will be live until they choose to remove, delete, or edit it. It also provides them download and usage statistics. In addition, payments will be easily accepted. Users need to complete the registration process on the Airtel’s AMS website starting Tuesday 1 December.

A win-win for both listeners and artists

Airtel Africa’s CEO, Christian de Faria, is very excited about the new platform.

“We are pleased to announce this new innovation which will not only bring new music to our customers, but at the same time support the development of music artists across our countries,” he said.  “It will give our up and coming music artists access to exclusive channels and events, as well as exposure across existing media, including social media.”

Airtel Africa is working with the company IMImobile to expand the service across Africa. The partnership has helped establish Airtel Africa as one of the leading mobile service providers in the continent. IMImobile CEO Jay Patel said:

“Mobile penetration across many African countries is now pervasive, in some cases, higher than 80%, so ensuring the constant growth of choice and variety of mobile services is key. We are delighted to partner with Airtel Africa to help bring new, affordable, mobile-centric service offerings to market which not only create a richer user experience for subscribers, but will also encourage and support the growth of creative talent across Africa.”
