Cassidy Williams fell in love with her golden retriever Dood right when she saw him. She tricked her parents into adopting him, knowing that they would fall in love with him too. Five years later, the family was devastated to find out that their beloved dog had terminal cancer. Williams decided to do something special for Dood.

Getting Married With The Whole Family

Williams was planning on marrying her fiance Matthijs early this August. But they live in a different state than her parents, who had Dood. We scrambled to figure out what to do,” she said. The family decided that instead of flying to the wedding, her dad would cancel his flight and make a 13-hour drive with the dog.

The Cutest Ring Bearer Ever

Dood was the ring bearer for the wedding. The dog had never been out of his home state before, nor had he ever seen the ocean. He got to experience both.

Making Memories

The drive was hard, but it was worth the trip. “He was so happy, he had so much energy,” Williams said, “He did a fantastic job as the ring bearer.” Once he got to the ocean, Dood was not sure what to do with himself at first. Once he got used to the water, he let loose and had fun.

He Had The Time Of His Life

Williams says that the dog’s cancer symptoms are still minimal and he is still very happy and playful. He was having the time of his life skipping through the sand alongside the water.

Precious Last Moments

The family is crushed that they will lose their dog soon. But instead of focusing on the negative, they are cherishing their last moments with them. The memories they made and the pictures they took are priceless to them, and Dood is sure to enjoy the rest of his life.
