Sometimes, opposites attract and make the best relationships. This is definitely true for best friends Kiko and Loboito, who live at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust orphanage in the Nairobi National Park.
They are completely different
Kiko, the giraffe, is one-month-old and a bit timid, especially compared to his friend Loboito. Loboito is an elephant who is less than a month-old; he is full of energy.

A surprising friendship
Their personalities and heights differ, but that contrast does not get in the way of their adorable friendship. They even make the height difference work out – Loboito likes to hide under his giraffe friend’s long legs.

They met in unlikely circumstances
Kiko was rescued by Kenya wildlife workers after his parents were killed. He was too small to sleep with the other giraffes in the orphanage, so he stayed with the elephants. That is how he met Loboito.

Loboito was also rescued
The elephant calf was orphaned. He was rescued in Samburu, Kenya. The two found each other and struck up a friendship.
