Darius Sasnauskas is a Lithuanian outdoorsman who lives near Yellowstone National Park in the United States. The lucky man had the opportunity to witness a white-tailed doe giving birth in his backyard. When the two deers were born, Darius noticed that one of them was injured.
Abandoned by her mother
The injured deer kept falling down and could not hold any weight on her front legs. The deer was left out by her family because she was unable to keep up with the group.

There was no way she would have survived
Darius noted that there were several bears in the area. “With so many predators around, she had no chance to survive on her own,” he said. He decided to take her home and nurse her back to health. He documented the entire process and posted the video on YouTube.

A new home
Darius brought the deer home, where he was hosting a few dogs and cats already. He created a makeshift brace from an oatmeal box and fed her with a bottle every four hours. He made it clear in the video that he normally does not agree with keeping wild animals as pets, but that this was a special case.

She got along with his other pets very well
Darius’ dog Mack grew very attached to the youngling. He guarded her and played with her. “He was a very good dad, always kept a close eye and didn’t let her wander off,” he said.

She eventually recovered
The deer was able to walk again. Darius believed it was time to release her back to the wild so she could find her mother or another doe looking for a deer. He attempted to take her to a field and watch her. But things did not go according to plan…

The deer would not leave him
The deer refused to leave the man who saved her. Anytime he walked, she would walk with him. She would stay right next to him and give him kisses.

After a few tries, the deer is back with her family.
It took a couple of attempts, but the mother finally appeared and reclaimed her child. Unfortunately, Darius did not have his camera on him when the mother returned. He has seen the family around and got footage of them running around a few months later. His video has been viewed over a million times. “I didn’t expect this story to become so popular,” he said. “I am sure that any of us with a little bit of a conscience about our existence, with love for the nature and animals would do the same.”
