These stars came to light up our lives, and as soon as they did the world went dark. Many celebrities struggle with mental illness, substance abuse or simply can’t handle the pressure of living in the public eye. From young to old, these celebrities felt like part of our families until they sadly passed away. Luckily, we can still remember them through the incredible legacies that they left behind. We will never forget them.
1. Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston was a famous singer, actress and model, who was cited as one of the most talented female artists of all time. She brought us incredible hits such as I Will Always Love You, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Greatest Love of All. Houston died on the 11th of February 2012, at the age of 49. It was reported and confirmed that she died from drowning, as she was found submerged in a bathtub. She was buried beside her father and is survived by her ex-husband Bobby Brown and her daughter Bobbi who is currently struggling with her life.

2. Paul Walker
Walker was one of the stars of the smash hit Fast and Furious 7. He tragically died in a car accident before the film was completed and released. He starred in Eight Below, Running Scared and Into the blue. Walker passed away after leaving a charitable event in a friend’s Porsche. The Porsche hit a lamppost not far from the event. Walker, who was riding in the passenger seat, and his friend both died at the scene, devastating onlookers and fans. He was 40 when he passed away.

3. Tupac Shakur
Tupac was a rapper, songwriter and actor. He became famous for hits like Changes, Thug life and Hit ‘em up. He sold 75 million records internationally, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. He died after being shot in a drive-by, with bullets entering his right lung and causing internal bleeding. He was put under a medically-induced coma and his mother made the decision to stop trying after doctors tried to revive him 6 days later. He was 25 at the time of his death.

4. Robin Williams
Williams was a famous stand-up comedian and actor who rose to fame through the sitcom Mork & Mindy. He went on to star in big films such as Good Morning, Vietnam, Mrs Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting and Jumanji. Williams passed away last year on the 11th of August 2014 after taking his own life. It was said that his death was attributed to his struggles with depression and a recent diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. He was 63 when he passed away.

5. Brittany Murphy
Murphy was a famous actress, singer and voice artist who became famous after starring in the 1995 smash hit Clueless. She also had roles in films such as Girl, Interrupted, 8 Mile and Sin City. Murphy passed away after her husband Simon Monjack phoned emergency services to report that she had collapsed in the bathroom. Doctors tried to resuscitate her and she died shortly afterwards in hospital. The cause of death was determined to be pneumonia paired with iron deficiency. She was 32.
