Pedro Dinis, from Paris, France was walking his dog when he discovered something sickening. A dog who was buried alive and who was desperately holding on to her life. Dinis called the emergency services and went to rescue the animal. He also took pictures of the rescue and posted them to his personal Facebook account.
A Clear Act Of Cruelty
Once Dinis got closer, he realized that this was no accident. The dog was only buried up to her head, she was surrounded by stones, and she was also tied down with a rope so that she could not escape. Some had obviously left this poor creature to die a slow, cruel death of dehydration and starvation.

The Right Place At The Right Time
“Only her head was visible and it was difficult to see given the amount of earth covering her,” Dinis wrote on his Facebook page. He stated that he was “in the right place at the right time to save a life.” Dinis worked to free the dog from the trap. His own dog also helped free her.
A Life Saved
The pair managed to free the dog from her prison and offered her water. She is recovering from dehydration and shock in an animal hospital. Her condition has improved greatly and her life is no longer in danger.
The Culprit Caught
Luckily, the criminal behind this attack was discovered due to one key clue: a tattoo that was found on the dog’s body. This tattoo led police investigators to her owner. The 21-year-old man claimed that the dog had run away, but the officers noted that the dog was 10 years old and suffered from arthritis. The authorities determined that the man’s explanation was “not very plausible” and charged him with animal cruelty.
Consequences For The Owner
If convicted, the dog’s owner faces two years in prison, and will pay fines of over 30,000 euros. This incident has caused fury on social media. An online petition calling for the “maximum sentence for the owner” has received close to 400,000 signatures so far.
