In 2009, he famously stole the microphone from Taylor Swift when she was accepting her award for Best Female Video and said \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Taylor, I\u2019m really happy for you and I\u2019ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u201d When he was met with a booing crowd, he shrugged and handed the microphone back. Ever since, viewers have always kept an eye on him to see if he will do anything outrageous. Instead of his usual stoic demeanor, he smiled, laughed, and danced. And when he won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, he gave an incredibly long acceptance speech with several twists and turns. First, he touched on the importance of artistic freedom of speech. Then it seemed like he was about to apologize for the incident with Swift a few years ago; he mentioned how being a little older and wiser had changed him. But then he abruptly switched gears &#8211; \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sometimes I feel like I died for the artist\u2019s opinion. For the artists to be able to have an opinion after they were successful. I\u2019m not no politician, bro<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u201d But when someone in the audience yelled \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kanye for president<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">!\u201d he apparently changed his mind on that last point. <em>\u201cAnd yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president,\u201d<\/em> he announced.
