He defied the terrorist group and shielded Christians from an\u00a0attack. After being admitted to the Kenyatta National Hospital for three weeks, he died during surgery to treat his bullet wound.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>On his way home<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Farah taught and was the deputy headmaster at a school in Mandera county. He had travelled to the southwest for a training program and was on his way back home when the attack occurred. The bus was going through the town Kotulo when it was ambushed; usually, buses travelling through the town are accompanied by a police escort. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;Unfortunately, there was no escort,\u201d Farah said, \u201cand then, unfortunately, we were surrounded by the al-Shabab.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0They fired through the windshield and the shrapnel injured his arm. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13562\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13562\" style=\"width: 714px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-13562\" src=\"https:\/\/www.afrizap.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/01\/20141123013036225.jpg\" alt=\"source\" width=\"714\" height=\"447\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.afrizap.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/01\/20141123013036225.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.afrizap.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/01\/20141123013036225-600x375.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.afrizap.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/01\/20141123013036225-85x53.jpg 85w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 714px) 100vw, 714px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13562\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/himg2.huanqiu.com\/attachment2010\/2014\/1123\/20141123013036225.jpg\">source<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2><strong>He showed incredible bravery<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The attackers offered Farah a chance to escape their wrath. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;They told us if you are a Muslim, we are safe. There were some people who were not Muslim. They hid their heads,&#8221; he said.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But Farah and the other Muslim passengers refused. In fact, when they were ordered off the vehicle, Farah said:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;&#8230;the women who were Muslims started removing their hijabs and <\/strong>lesos<strong> and handing them to the non-Muslims.\u201d \u00a0<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The passengers asked the terrorists to either kill them all or leave them alone. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cAs we argued, they shot me and [a] boy. He began to bleed profusely before his passing. After Farah\u2019s tragic passing Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet announced:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cWe provided a plane to fly the body home to Mandera for burial. This is because the deceased died while trying to shield innocent Kenyans. He is a true hero.\u201d <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Farah&#8217;s brother Rashid hoped that his death can help encourage a religious harmony and community
