South Africa was well represented at the 18th annual DJ Awards in Ibiza, world’s DJ capital. South Africa won an award as Dance Nation of the Year and your very own DJ Black Coffee won the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award.

A national recognition

The DJ was thrilled to win the Breakthrough Artist of the Year prize at the DJ Awards. He shared a very patriotic message on Facebook:

“It’s in the bag!! Thank you for your best wishes and love. ‪#‎DJAwards ‪#‎SouthAfricaStandUp”.

And when South Africa won the Dance Nation of the Year award, he added:

“OK there’s a second one!!!!! For South Africa.. Dance Nation Of The Year. With our turbulent past, this is where we are today. ‪#‎WeDanceAgainChallenge proves how amazing we are. We deserve to give ourselves a pat on the back for this one. I believe the more we dance together, the better we will become. I’m so honoured right now and so proud to be South African!!! #‎blessed.”

An exciting month

Black Coffee whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo‚ is having an exciting month. He just finished recording an album called Pieces of Me. So far, the album is garnering great reviews from fans from all over the world. The single‚ We Dance Again‚ even initiated a dance challenge that started on Instagram by Europe- based DJ Fuki Flex. DJ Black Coffee started the #WeDanceAgainChallenge hashtag and invited celebrities like Cassper Nyovest‚ DJ Tira‚ Somizi Mhlongo‚ and Okmalumkookat to post videos of themselves dancing to We Dance Again. DJ Black Coffee will be releasing his album Pieces of Me on Thursday 1 October at the Sappie Theatre Gardens in Johannesburg.
